Agent-based Workflow Management Systems (WfMSs) JBees – a distributed and adaptive WfMS with monitoring and controlling capabilities

چکیده
Workflow management systems (WfMS) based on agent technology can cope with the rapidly evolving business environment better than most other systems as they are more flexible and open. In this paper we describe a possible architecture of such a system by means of our prototype WfMS called JBees. The combination of collaborating agents and the Coloured Petri Net (CPN)-formalism in JBees enables a flexible and adaptive system with the possibility of simulation, analysis and monitoring of the process execution in order to identify potential inconsistencies and to provide appropriate information to the workflow administrator for the purpose of the process improvement.

Evaluation of a Multi-agent Based Workflow Management System Modeled Using Coloured Petri Nets
Workflow management systems (WfMS) should address the needs of rapidly changing business environments We have built a multi-agent based framework, JBees, which addresses these needs. We evaluate our agent based workflow system modelled using Petri nets with the proposed standards for various workflow patterns and communication patterns. The coloured Petri net model supports the workflow pattern...
متن کاملDesign Security for Internet-Based Workflow Management Systems Adopting Security Agents
With the expansion of WFMS(workflow management systems) across the Internet, collaboration among enterprises increase. The security problems of Intranet-based WFMS, which is operated on Intranet, are critical, and the effectiveness of Internet-Based WFMSs is deeply influenced by security. For the security of Internet-Based WFMSs, this study introduces the Login Agent, the Security Agent, and Ta...
متن کاملMonitoring and controlling of a multi - agent based workflow system
Business processes are often likely to undergo drastic changes and hence the workflow systems that model, simulate and enact these processes should support the monitoring and controlling of processes. In extension to our previous work on the framework for an adaptive and distributed agent based workflow system JBees, this paper describes the agents that are embedded to our system, that can moni...
متن کاملA Meta Modeling Approach to Workflow Management Systems Supporting Exception Handling
Workflow Management Systems (WFMSs) facilitate the definition of structure and decomposition of business processes and assists in management of coordinating, scheduling, executing and monitoring of such activities. Most of the current WFMSs are built on traditional relational database systems and/or using an objectoriented database system for storing the definition and run time data about the w...
متن کاملApplying Active Concepts to WorkFlow Management
A workflow management system (WFMS) supports the design, execution and monitoring of in general long-lasting business processes that typically involve multiple activities and multiple collaborating persons. WFMSs originate from the office automation efforts in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and from the imaging-based systems in the 1980s, both of which aimed at automating office paper processi...
